You Won't Believe How LIGHTWEIGHT this EBike is! The Most Lightweight, Compact Electric Bike

The perfect lightweight folding e-bike for seniors. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today, I'm going to show you the perfect lightweight folding e-bike for seniors. I have the Simple step-through 20-inch foldable e-bike , this is a 500-watt rear hub motor e-bike with the lowest step-through height I have ever seen on an electric bike. In addition to that, it also has the lowest seat height of any e-bike I've seen in terms of how low it is to mount and dismount. I'm going to grab a tape measure here in a second, and I'm going to measure that for you and show you. But in addition to that is how lightweight it is. Now, when you talk about lightweight in the e-bike world, it's much different than when you talk about lightweight in the regular bike world. Now, this is an alloy frame, and it weighs 55 pounds with the battery and 47 pounds without the battery. So it is on the lighter side of e-bikes. Now, it's hard to avoid the weight when you talk about the battery being eight pounds and the motor weighing about 15 pounds. So that's the difficult thing with e-bikes, the real way to decrease the weight would be to decrease the motor size and or decrease the battery size. You can also take off the hydraulic disc brakes, that's another added weight when you talk about the brakes, now not much in terms of the calipers, sorry, these are not hydraulic, these are mechanical disc brakes, but you have a big caliper. Now that doesn't add a ton of weight, but that is something that adds to the bike's weight as well.

In addition to that, you also have all the extra wiring, the display, things like that are just going to make an e-bike way more than a standard bike. So the only other way to reduce the weight of an e-bike would be to do a carbon fiber frame, which is very uncommon in the e-bike world. Also, that's gonna drive the price way up. So let me grab my tape measure, and then I'm gonna measure out and show you exactly how low the step-through is and how low the seat height is. Okay, now the step-over height of this frame is only eight inches. So you can see how easy it is to get on and off this frame because you only have to lift your foot eight inches off the ground to get on and off. So not going to be any other e-bikes with that low of a step-through. I can guarantee it 100%. The reason I know that is because most e-bikes, they have they're a lot of them have batteries behind the seat tube here. And because of this angle and this dipping frame here, you have to have a certain configuration to allow for this low of a step-over height. Now, the other cool thing is how low the seat goes as well. So, in the lowest position here, the seat is only 28 and a half inches off the ground. You can simply step on and sit down. Super easy to mount and dismount, especially if you struggle to get your foot off the ground and you need something safe and easy. The other cool thing is that if you like the seat higher, you have a lot of play in this seat post to accommodate varying rider heights. 

This can accommodate riders 4'11 up to about 6'2 comfortably. All right, now let's get on to the folding part. You can tell just by looking at this e-bike how compact it is. So we haven't made this e-bike foldable. And the reason for that is because of how compact it is, we've just left it all in one piece. Now, front to back, let me elaborate on that, but I'll show you the handlebars do fold down. So, front to back, this e-bike is 62 inches long, and axle to axle, it is 44 inches. Now, as I said, the handlebars fold down. So if you fold down the handlebars here, you lift this latch right on the side here. And then from there, you pull this down. And then your handlebars can fold down like that. So once you have it down like this, really easy to lift and load this into a car, take it with you. We actually have a video where we put this in the back seat of a sedan, and you can easily fold the handlebars up and click that back into place. So compact, lightweight, and easy to ride. Also, you can charge with the battery on the back, not on the front. And let's talk a little bit about that. So it's a 10.4 amp-hour battery. You can get up to a range of 50 miles, depending on the weight of the rider and also what levels of assistance you use. There are five levels of assistance.
