Would You Ride an E-Bike at 73? These Riders Did—and Loved It!

Dustin: We have a great group of riders behind us, all over 60, some over 70! What is it that's drawn you to the world of e-bikes?

Rider 1: For me, it's about being adventurous now that I have some free time. I'd love to use my e-bike for group travel and that kind of thing.

Rider 2 (Age 73): I’m 73, and I'll be 74 in April! It’s so exhilarating. I made so much noise when I was riding it! I just got so used to it—once I got the hang of where the wheel goes, I was good.

Dustin:  A lot of people wonder about comfort. How does the riding position feel?

Rider 2: It’s very comfortable, first of all. I love the handlebars the way they are. It’s just easy to ride. I love the way that it is so relaxing to be able to sit here and have everything really comfortable.

Dustin:  That sounds key, especially as we get older. I know the bike also has four custom adjustment points, like stem height and seat tilt, to fit perfectly to your body. Phil, I heard this was one of your first times on an e-bike, right?

Phil (Age 71): That’s right. I'm 71. I think I’m going to give this one a try here. It feels great. My present bike... well, this is a lot better!

Dustin:  One of the common issues we hear from riders who have stopped is getting home.

Rider 3: Oh, that's my problem always! I ride for exercise, but the return trip is mostly uphill. I’ve got one at home sitting in the garage with flat tires because of it. I moved to the mountains, and the hills and curves just made it not worth it anymore. I've always envied the people who I saw riding down the street with a trike!

Dustin: That’s where the power comes in. These have 500 watts of power—enough to get you up and down the hills with no problem.

Rider 2: I find it really responsive. I just hit it, and it takes off. My favorite thing to do is ride the beach trail—10 miles each trip. And the range is no problem for that.

Dustin:  And for anyone who is just getting back into riding, how easy is it to use?

Rider 1: There's really nothing you can screw up on this!

Dustin:  That’s the goal! You have three ways to ride:

  1. Pedal Assist: Gives you a boost as you pedal.
  2. Full Throttle: You can let the motor do all the work and not pedal at all.
  3. Regular Bike: Just use it like a regular bike with no assist.

It’s fantastic to see you all enjoying this! And as always, if you don't love your bike for any reason, you can send it back—no questions asked.
