Hey, everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry, and today we're going to answer the question, what makes an e-bike an electric bike for women? Stick around.
All right, so today we're going to answer the question, what makes an e-bike for women? Why would it be for women? What makes an electric bike designed for women? Before we get into that though, hit subscribe. Stay in touch with us here at SixThreeZero. All right. If you are in the market for an electric bike and you are searching around and let's say you're a man and you see a bike that says it's for a woman or let's say you're a woman and you're looking for a bike for a woman, something that is designed specifically for a woman, what actually makes it for a woman and why would it be for a woman and not a man? Great question.
So the reality now, we are living in a society where we're moving in the direction of things being non-gender specific more and more. But I think in particular with bikes dating back to even the invention of bikes and how there became a gender split between men's and women's bikes, I don't think there's much reason for it. Mostly marketing, to be quite honest with you. However, there are a few things in that men are on average taller than women, and there are certain physical traits that a man has on average that are different from women. But in terms of how does that translate and why is this bike the EVRYjourney 500 watt, which by the way is linked in the description? If you're interested in these two bikes, why is this for a woman or why do we say is it for a woman? And I can get into that.
Now, in terms of the actual design, part of it is the sizing, right? So our women's versions are sized to fit a smaller range of heights. The ideal range would be more in the five foot to five foot 10 range. Whereas the men's bikes have a little bit higher of a seat tube, which is basically it, and a little bit bigger of a frame sized more for the range of five foot four to say six foot three in that range. So that's the number one factor I would say with most of the bikes you see out there. The difference between a men's and a women's is the sizing.
Now, interesting, if you fit into that range that I just talked about, an e-bike is on the table for you. But if you're a taller man, looking at a woman's bike, nine times out of 10 is going to be challenging because most women's bikes or e-bikes are going to be on average designed for a lower set of heights.
Now, as I said, it's not always true, but that's just kind of the generalization of it all. In terms of the seats, there is a lot of marketing out there about different seats for a woman. In some instances, maybe. I think the thing though is the reality is everybody's different. A woman, a man, everyone's rear ends are different. Everyone's backs are different. Everyone's knees are different, everyone's elbows are different. So the reality of saying this is for all women, I don't necessarily agree with that. There is some principle to color. We could say that this teal bike is more preferred by women than men, generally speaking, so we could call that a woman's bike. Now, in this situation, all of our bikes are gender-neutral. Men can ride the women's bikes, women can ride the men's bikes, and in the e-bike space, you're seeing less gender separation.
In regular bikes, you see more men and women. In the e-bike space, you're not seeing as much gender separation. A couple of reasons for that. E-bikes have so many different frames and they don't have multiple ... So they have different frame styles, but there are not multiple sizes per e-bike.
When you get into regular bikes, you're seeing road bikes in particular. I mean, there are six, 10 different sizes for a road bike, 48 centimeters, 50 centimeters, 52, 54, 56, 58. Because you're talking about a performance level, you need to dial in the sizing exactly to that rider's body. You're seeing so many different sizes.
In the e-bike space, number one, because of inventory, companies can't afford to keep all these different e-bike sizes on hand at any given time when you're talking about $2,000 products. A shoe, for instance, a hundred dollars, sure, you can have all these different sizes. If you're talking about this bike and you wanted to have sizing for every woman to an exact measurement from four foot eight all the way up to six foot two, you're going to have to have a lot of sizes and a lot of inventory. In the e-bike space, and also in the recreational space, you're just seeing more customization offered on the bike. So adjustable handlebars, adjustable stem, adjustable seat angle, adjustable seat height, all of those elements can be adjustable, which allows you to dial it into your specific body type, whether you are a man or a woman.
So when you are looking at the e-bike space, I would say it's fair game for any woman or a man. And again, you're seeing that gender divide really, really go away more and more. So to answer the question I started with what makes an e-bike for a woman. Honestly, the size would be number one. So for us in particular, our frame here, which has the swooping frame, is a little smaller than which has the top tube frame, which we've denoted as being the men's frame, but again, doesn't keep any gender from riding either one of those two bikes. But that's one element.
The other thing is I would say we try to follow colors that we typically feel like women would like more. We send out surveys. We have designers that are out taking samples of the fashion world and seeing what's popular in the clothing world with women more so than men. And so we're calling it a women's bike based on the color because these are the colors that have resonated most with women out in the world. We're not calling it a women's bike because we think this is a women's color. We're saying that because of the testing and the sampling and the surveying we've done, that's what women are saying they like more.
Now, all colors are on the table for everyone. This is a very gender-neutral color. The cream does well with both men and women. We have men riders too that love the teal bike as well. So again, it's for you to decide what color you like most. We don't want to necessarily put a label on it, but sometimes by calling it a women's bike, it helps to find the women that are looking for certain colors that you may not find in a typical men's color palette. So I hope that helps answer the question about women's electric bikes and what makes them that way.
