Now, we've done other videos on this topic before about electric bikes. But there's the specific term e-bike that a lot of people are seeing right now, and it's as simple as an abbreviation for the word electric bicycle. But I was talking to some other people, and I used the word e-bike, and they actually didn't know what I was talking about. So an e-bike, very simply put, it's an electric bicycle.

So, what that means is it's a bicycle that also has the ability to be electrically propelled, so either a motor in the front wheel, rear wheel, or in the middle of the bicycle. And basically, it's going to allow that bicycle to be written with electric assistance or completely with the electric propulsion using a throttle of some sort, either a thumb throttle or a twist throttle. So, when you talk about electric bicycles, you're going to hear either the term electric bicycle, electric bike, or e-bike is now a very common term used out there. And basically, to be classified as an e-bike, you also need to be able to function as a normal bike without using electrical propulsion. So, you can ride that bike like a standard bicycle pedaling like normal. It could have gears or not have gears. If it doesn't have the ability to be peddled like a bicycle, then it's not considered an e-bike. That would either be considered an electric scooter or just a scooter or a moped, something of that nature.

So an e-bike, an electric bicycle, is just like a bicycle. But it also has a motor mounted somewhere with a battery to power the bike either in an assistance mode, meaning it will provide you electrical assistance when you're peddling. That's one type of e-bike. Or you'll be able to use the throttle and let that take you completely. But you always have to have the ability to ride that bike like a normal bicycle.

So, I hope that helps explain what an e-bike is. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate, comment below or email us, the team, at sixthreezero.com or call us at (310) 982-2877.
