Top Scenic Bike Rides in Texas

The Lone Star State’s mild weather and diverse landscapes makes it one of the best states in America for cyclists. Whether you’re a Texas native or a visitor, Texas bike rides are suitable for every level of rider who is seeking a fun adventure. From deserts to mountains, there are tons of options when it comes to North Texas bike rides. Here are some of the best Texas mountain bike trails in the state.

Dragons Back

This 100-mile route is the creation of devoted cyclists in the state’s river region. It swoops through river valleys and hills and is considered to be one of the most difficult, and enjoyable, rides in Texas. The ride is scenic but unforgiving as the trek is so long. The trail begins at around 1,400 feet above sea level, and at its highest, Dragons Back ascends to more than 2,000 feet above sea level. This ride is pleasurable, but only for the more experienced rider.

Big Bend Ranch

This is the largest state park in Texas and home to some of the most gorgeous biking routes you’ll find in the Lone Star State. Big Bend Ranch State Park boasts more than 236 miles of interconnected trails.

Fort David Loop

This 75-mile loop, located in the Davis Mountains near Fort Davis, provides sweeping views of the vistas below. The loop is home to many different bike events throughout the year. Fort Davis Loop begins near the Fort Davis National Historic Site and runs through rustic towns and into rolling hills where you can spot a ton of different wildlife.

Copper Breaks

Once the home to the Comanche and Kiowa tribes, this 2,000-acre landscape is a biker’s mecca. There are tons of historic ranch roads and narrow, rocky trails that meander through this expanse. For a more dramatic ride, dare to bike the steep walls of the canyon and enjoy the dramatic sights of the badlands down below.

White Rock Ramble

This trail has a smooth, concrete surface and many tint wooden bridges that go over the creek. It’s a fairly quiet trail and has no vehicular traffic, making it a peaceful ride for any level of cyclist.

San Antonio Missions Ramble

Enjoy the urban landscape of one of Texas’s most popular cities as you bike along the flowing San Antonio River. Almost 300 years after its founding, the Missions remain well preserved and gorgeous.

Lost Pines Cruise

The highlight of this trail is the secluded roads through the pine forests of Bastrop and Buescher State Parks. Don’t forget your camera because you’re bound to run into tons of wildlife!

To fully enjoy these trails, you need women’s trail bikes or men’s trail bicycles. Thankfully, sixthreezero has many fantastic bikes to choose from!
