The Best Electric Bike Review from 67 Year Old Senior: You Need to Hear This Electric Bike Review!

Speaker 1: All right. We're here with Ren, and Ren has the EVRYjourney 500-watt women's Ebike, and she's 67 years old. And how do you like your EVRYjourney 500-watt women's E-bike?

Ren: I love my bike. It lets me ride with everybody, which before I couldn't, I had very bad knees. And this bike, it coasts so well, it's so well-built. I can load it onto my rack. You just put your foot behind the wheel, tilt it up, and put it on the rack. And without the battery, the back end doesn't weigh hardly anything.

Speaker 1: And how-

Ren: I can go over 20 miles not pedaling at all, at my weight, on this.

Speaker 1: Have you done that before?

Ren: I have, yeah. I just did.

Speaker 1: Okay. Just the throttle only?

Ren: Just the throttle. 20 miles.

Speaker 1: Crazy.

Ren: As long as there are no hills.

Speaker 1: No hills.

Ren: But around the bay, it's all flat. With hills or pedaling, which I do now occasionally, I can go 28 miles. I had to change the battery. I still had a bar. But 28 miles.

Speaker 1: Just to be safe, change it out?

Ren: Yeah.

Speaker 1: And you carry an extra battery with you when you go?

Ren: I carry it. I got a bag that fits and carries... Just in case.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. How many total miles have you put on your E-bike, would you think?

Ren: Well, I will tell you, one of the things I don't like is that it only has three buttons, which makes it super simple. However, when you're... There's the odometer, but to try to do the individual odometer... This is cumulative.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Ren: So I have no idea. So we have to do math every time we ride.

Speaker 1: Okay.

Ren: We take a picture of what it was and then we do it. So I have almost 400 miles on my bike, and I've only had it for three months.

Speaker 1: And you love it?

Ren: Oh, I love it. I love it. I have two friends, they have Aventons, and A, you can't get on them. The bar's way up here, and they don't have the cruiser hand bars. You can just sit back and cruise on this. It's awesome.

Speaker 1: And you're 5' 2", you said, right?

Ren: I'm barely 5' 2".

Speaker 1: Barely 5' 2".

Ren: Yeah. And I have the seat all the way down. Water aerobics helps me get on easier, but I can put both feet down, which is super important. And my-

Speaker 1: Yeah, you've-

Ren: Handlebars might be a little bit higher than this, but it's super comfortable. And I will tell you the truth, sometimes I sit back here and just cruise.

Speaker 1: You sit back on top of that?

Ren: Yeah, I have a thing there with a pillow.

Speaker 1: Oh, okay.

Ren: And I just sit up there and cruise.

Speaker 1: Interesting.

Speaker 3: Looks like you have the second battery too on top.

Ren: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because that's the only thing. When you have the seat all the way down, which is fabulous, on this bike, a short person can touch the ground. And if you know anything about bikes and being old, you want to be able to touch the ground. So that fit thing you guys do, you know that "This bike will fit you." I used that.

Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Oh, cool.

Ren: And honestly-

Speaker 1: The BodyFit quiz.

Ren: It did say 5' 2", and I could stretch and be that. It's like Disneyland. I could stretch and be that.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: But the rack is super handy. I put tons of stuff on it.

Speaker 1: So you took the BodyFit quiz-

Ren: Yeah, I did.

Speaker 1: Answered questions about your body... Did it recommend the EVRYjourney?

Ren: Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1: And then you got it and it was a fit? Wow, that's cool.

Ren: That was before you had the low rise.

Speaker 1: Yep.

Ren: But honestly, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. I was able to pretty easily... And like I said, the more you ride it, the more agile you get on it. So I have no trouble. And even in the very beginning, putting my feet down... Because I had the Jet Bolt.

Speaker 1: Oh, the Jetson.

Ren: I had the Bolt for a camp bike. And I'm going to get her on it. What makes you like it is you can just walk it until you get the hang of riding a bike again. So it made it easier for me to do this. But my friends can't put their foot down on the Aventon. They have to get off the seat to do it.

Speaker 1: Okay.

Ren: And Susan has fallen four times.

Speaker 1: Oh, wow.

Ren: So this makes a difference. You can put your foot down comfortably.

Speaker 1: So you have a group of people you ride with?

Ren: Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1: And they all have different Ebikes?

Ren: Aventon's, and one has a Pedego.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: But that sucker's so heavy. It takes three of us to put it up and down on racks. It's heavy.

Speaker 1: Interesting.

Ren: Yeah. But again, it's because a lot of people have trouble putting their foot across.

Speaker 1: Right, right, right, right.

Ren: You now have that low... What is it, a low ride?

Speaker 1: Step through? Like a low step through?

Ren: The step through, yeah.

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Ren: So that's cool because these are 26-inch wheels.

Speaker 1: And you wanted to upgrade to the 26-inch wheel because you were having to pedal too much, right, with the 20?

Ren: Well, from the Bolt, yeah, because the wheel is that big. Little fat [inaudible 00:04:33] trying to keep up with my friends. And that battery only goes 12 miles.

Speaker 1: Oh, okay.

Ren: That was my biggest thing. I wanted a big girl bike that would go 20 miles with my friends at least.

Speaker 1: Got it. Got it.

Ren: And because I knew I'd be using the throttle a lot, I got the second battery.

Speaker 1: Cool, cool.

Ren: It works. Works well. I can't tell you how it's opened up my vacations and opened up at home. It's like giving me another whole path of things to do.

Speaker 1: That's amazing.

Ren: We go... Every week, we ride somewhat.

Speaker 1: Cool.

Ren: Yeah. We've been doing-

Speaker 1: And you said you put a... Oh, go ahead.

Ren: From Huntington Beach all the way to Balboa, because we live down that way.

Speaker 1: How many miles is that?

Ren: It's almost 30.

Speaker 1: Wow.

Ren: Up and back. And we don't have any issues at all. And I know they get tired. They're always... And I'm just cruising.

Speaker 1: And when you do that, are you using a combination of throttle and pedal assist?

Ren: Sometimes.

Speaker 1: Changing?

Ren: I will admit that when I use the assist, I'm usually using it at five. So I only have to pedal twice, and I pass them. [inaudible 00:05:34] twice. They think my bike is just much more powerful. But I've got mine on the assist. You know the newer Aventons, they're all assisted.

Speaker 1: Oh, no throttle, you mean?

Ren: They do have a throttle, but it's a separate button.

Speaker 1: Okay.

Ren: So they pretty much pedal the whole time, but they're really in good shape.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: At least I can play with them, you know? I can't play tennis anymore. I can't play pickleball anymore. I can ride my bike.

Speaker 1: That's so cool.

Ren: It is. I just tell people. And sixthreezero... I research. I'm a researcher big time. And I kept coming back to this bike. My issue was I couldn't test-drive it.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: I couldn't find them anywhere. I even tried to buy a used one to test drive it. But now you guys have test rides on Tuesday. That is why my friend and I are here, and that's why she's buying a bike.

Speaker 1: That's cool. What was the research that you were doing? Where did you find... I'm just curious what research and where did you find this?

Ren: I knew I wanted a Beach Cruiser style, and I kept going into Best 10, best 10, best 10.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: And sixthreezero came up quite a few times.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: And then COVID hit and you closed the brick and mortar.

Speaker 1: Yep.

Ren: Because originally you had one, and after COVID, you didn't open back up. So that was my problem. I went down to... Have you ever been to Huntington Beach?

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Ren: In Downtown Huntington Beach, there must be seven bicycle shops.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Ren: I rode every single one.

Speaker 1: Interesting.

Ren: I came this close to buying the Electra, but they don't have a throttle. And it looked just like this one, honestly. Even had the thing here and everything. No throttle. And they told me that all the Ebikes are going to be without throttles, which I know is not true. I'd looked at a million bikes that day. So yeah, the Electra was the only one I was tempted by, and I came back to this one again.

Speaker 1: Very cool.

Ren: She independently found sixthreezero without my telling her what my bike was.

Speaker 1: Oh, interesting.

Speaker 3: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Yeah.

Ren:And what did you research?

Speaker 3: The same thing, the top ones that were recommended. But I was looking for the step through, and the one that was-

Ren: Your step-through came up on the website, right?

Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.

Ren: Your sixthreezero step through bike came up.

Speaker 1: Yep. Cool.

Ren: So it didn't do it for me.

Speaker 3: And then also the fact that it was the cruiser style because those are the things that... Because I did not want to be down there like that with some of the people.

Ren: Right. Right. Old backs. Nurse's back.

Speaker 3: Yeah, looked like me. [inaudible 00:07:56] Do that.

Ren: You know the other big thing for me was pedal forward.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: Because that's why I looked at Pedego.

Speaker 1: Got it.

Ren: And the Electra is a bit pedal forward. But again, yours was the most pedal forward. I was just worried I couldn't step through because it is a little high, but now you have the low-rise step-through if people want. Yeah, I would have considered that I guess. But I love mine.

Speaker 1: Great.

Ren: I do.

Speaker 1: That's amazing. Do you want to show us how you ride it?

Ren: And I get so many compliments.

Speaker 1: Oh, on the look?

Ren: On how pretty it is.

Speaker 1: Well, you're not going to see that color combination anywhere else, that's for sure.

Ren: Uh-uh (negative). It's gorgeous. All right. You want me to ride?

Speaker 1: Yeah. Show us how you take a test drive.

Ren: I'm going to ride.

Speaker 1: Normally, you wear a helmet, right?

Ren: Yes. Do you want me to wear one now?

Speaker 1: No, it's okay. Just a quick little parking lot jaunt won't hurt us.

Ren: Oh, I see. I'm not going fast because the batteries are gone.

Speaker 1: Yeah, that's okay.

Ren: It stops well. I love my bike.

Speaker 1: Well, there you go. There's Ren, and she loves her EVRYjourney women. So thanks, Ren.

Ren: Thank you. Thank you, sixthreezero. I love my bike.

Speaker 1: Cool.
