Step-by-Step Assembly: Easy Transit Folding E-Trike (sixthreezero)

This guide walks you through unboxing, assembly, adjustment, and first-ride checks for the Easy Transit Folding Electric Trike.

Before You Start

What’s in the box

  • Assembled rear frame with wheels, derailleur, and rear brakes installed
  • Front wheel (with motor and rotor)
  • Front fender + hardware, headlight, reflector
  • Rear fenders + rear light
  • Front basket + brackets & hardware
  • Pedals (R/L)
  • Charger, two keys, bell, axle cap
  • Small hardware pack

Recommended tools

  • Open-end or adjustable wrenches: 10 mm, 15 mm, 18 mm
  • Allen/hex keys: 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Tire pump (40–65 PSI range)

Prep

  • Work on a protective mat to avoid scratches.
  • Leave protective wrap on painted parts (fenders, baskets) until final alignment.

1) Set the Cockpit Upright

  1. Unfold the handlebar stem and close the main latch.
  2. Slide the safety sleeve over the latch to prevent accidental opening.
  3. (Later) You’ll tighten the 6 mm stem clamp bolt under the fold joint—don’t skip this; it prevents bar movement.

2) Install the Front Wheel (Motorized)

  1. Remove the plastic fork spacer.
  2. Loosen axle hardware enough to seat the fork legs. Keep the inner notched washer on the rotor side in place.
  3. Align the brake rotor into the front caliper, and lower the fork onto the axle until it drops fully onto the flats.
  4. Fit the notched washers so the tab seats in the fork slot; add flat washers and hand-thread the axle nuts.
  5. Tighten both axle nuts evenly (18 mm). Snug-tight is correct—no over-torquing.
  6. Press on the rubber cap on the non-motor side.
  7. Connect motor cable: align the arrows, push straight together, then tighten the collar.

3) Install the Front Fender & Headlight

  1. Position the fender tab at the fork crown.
  2. Remove the headlight bolt (10 mm nut + 5 mm Allen), place the fender tab between the reflector plate and fork, reinstall bolt, and tighten.
  3. Attach fender struts to the fork eyelets using the pre-installed bolts (5 mm Allen). Leave one side slightly loose until both are started, then tighten both.
  4. Recheck fender centering; minor hand adjustment is normal.

4) Install the Pedals

  • Pedals are marked R (right) and L (left).
  • Thread direction: both pedals tighten forward. The left pedal has reverse threads.
  • Hand-thread fully, then tighten firmly with a 15 mm wrench. Pedals must be very snug to avoid thread damage.

5) Install the Front Basket

  1. Bolt the under-basket clamp plate to the basket (Allen heads facing forward) and keep bolts loosely installed for adjustment.
  2. Align the frame bracket on the head tube plate; insert the two Phillips screws from the top into the threaded bracket and tighten.
  3. Return to the under-basket plate and tighten the two bolts (10 mm wrench + 5 mm Allen), setting your preferred height/angle.
  4. Verify the two head-tube side bolts are snug.

6) Install the Seat & Set Quick-Releases

  1. Insert the seatpost, and close the lower seat clamp quick-release. Adjust the nut so it takes firm hand pressure to close.
  2. Adjust the upper telescoping clamp similarly.
  3. Important: With bars folded down, tighten the 6 mm clamp bolt inside the stem joint until the bars cannot twist under hand force. Fold bars up, close latch, slide the lock sleeve over.

7) Install the Rear Fenders

  1. Each rear fender bolts to the fender cage using the two pre-installed bolts per side.
  2. Align, hand-thread both bolts (4 mm Allen), then tighten. Repeat on the other side.
  3. Confirm even spacing around the tires; minor hand centering is normal.

8) Install the Rear Light

  1. Pull the battery tab to activate the light.
  2. Mount to the bracket using the included nut/washer; tighten with an adjustable wrench (finger-tight + a small turn).
  3. Confirm the on/off button works before your first night ride.

9) Brake Setup (Quick Method)

Your trike ships pre-set, but shipping can nudge alignment. You may not need adjustment if the levers feel firm and rotors don’t rub.

Caliper centering (rear shown; front is the same):

  1. Lightly loosen the two caliper adjuster bolts (5 mm Allen) so the caliper can float (do not loosen the fixed mounting bolts).
  2. Squeeze and hold the brake lever to self-center the caliper over the rotor.
  3. While holding the lever, tighten the two adjuster bolts.
  4. Spin the wheel: light, occasional rubbing can self-clear with a short ride. Persistent rubbing? Repeat and visually center the rotor between pads (a white card behind the caliper helps you see “daylight” on both sides).
  5. Lever feel target: resistance begins about halfway to the grip; the lever should not touch the grip when pulled hard. Fine-tune with the barrel adjuster (small turns only). For bigger changes, re-set cable slack at the pinch bolt.

Parking brake: Squeeze the lever and click the small lock tab on the lever to hold the brake. Pull again to release.

If you’re unsure about brake setup, have a professional shop verify. Brakes are critical to safety.

10) Gear Indexing (7-Speed)

If shifting is crisp through 1 ↔ 7, you can skip this. Otherwise:

  1. Shift the shifter to 7th (smallest cog).
  2. Disconnect the derailleur cable at the pinch bolt (9 mm).
  3. Use the H (high) limit screw (top screw) to align the jockey wheel with the 7th cog while pedaling by hand; adjust until it runs quietly on 7th.
  4. Reattach the cable, pulling slack out by hand; tighten the pinch bolt.
  5. Shift up one click at a time (7→6→5…) and use the barrel adjuster to add cable tension so each click yields a clean shift.
  6. Verify all the way to 1st. Only if needed, use the L (low) limit screw to let the chain reach 1st without overshooting.

11) Install the Rear Basket

  1. Remove the two side brackets (4 bolts total) from the basket frame and keep the bolts handy.
  2. Center the basket: top bolts should pass below the top basket wire; align the mesh so bolts pass cleanly.
  3. Place the brackets on the outside, hand-thread all four bolts, then tighten evenly (4 mm Allen).
  4. Close the basket lid and confirm no rattle.

12) Tires, Battery, and First Power-On

  • Inflate tires: 40–65 PSI (printed on the sidewall).
  • Battery: Ensure the battery’s red power switch is ON.
  • Power-on: Hold the display power button to wake.
  • Assist: PAS 0 = no assist/throttle; PAS 1–5 = increasing assist.
  • Drive/Reverse: Left switch D/R (Drive forward / Reverse). Keep it on D to ride.
  • Parking brake: Engage when mounting/dismounting.

13) Handlebar Fit (Angle & Reach)

  • Use the 5 mm bolts on the handlebar clamp to bring the bar closer or further to suit your reach.
  • Tighten both bolts evenly and firmly.
  • Recheck the stem quick-release tension after adjustment.

14) Folding / Unfolding

  • Open the main frame quick-release, lift the safety latch, and fold.
  • Fold the handlebar stem as needed.
  • New cables may feel snug the first time; it eases with a few folds.
  • When unfolding: close the main latch, then slide the safety sleeve fully over the latch.

15) Final Safety Check (Pre-Ride)

  • Axle nuts tight; motor cable locked.
  • Stem 6 mm bolt tight; bar clamp bolts tight.
  • Brakes centered, firm lever feel; parking locks release properly.
  • Shifts clean through all 7 gears on a stand.
  • Tires at 40–65 PSI.
  • All plugs fully seated (no red showing at connectors).
  • Battery locked to frame; keep spare key in a safe place.
