Simple Step‑Thru Fat Tire E‑Trike — Assembly Guide

Before You Start

  • Box size & weight: ~63.5" L × 34" W × 32" H; approx. 100 lb. Two‑person lift is recommended.
  • Unpack carefully: The carton is stapled and double‑boxed. Keep packaging in case a return or transport is needed.
  • Safety: Watch for sharp staples. Take care when cutting zip ties near cables and spokes.

Tools You’ll Need

  • Snips or heavy‑duty scissors
  • Metric hex keys: 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm
  • Wrenches: 8 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, 19 mm (or adjustable/ratchet set)
  • Bicycle pump with pressure gauge

Tip: Leave protective foam on the frame until the final steps to prevent cosmetic damage during assembly.

1) Unbox & Prep the Trike

  1. Open the outer carton; remove the inner box. Cut bands and open carefully (staples may protrude through cardboard).
  2. Remove loose items (front wheel, rear basket, small parts). Cut visible zip ties.
  3. Remove the battery to reduce weight:
  • Keys are zip‑tied to the handlebars. Cut the tie, insert the key, and slide the battery out.
  1. Lift the frame out of the box. Solo: You can also cut and fold down the front panel to slide the trike out.
  2. Identify and discard packaging pieces (e.g., black plastic blocks, metal axle spacers in the fork). These are for shipping protection only.

2) Install the Handlebar

  1. Position the handlebar/stem in the head tube if not already inserted.
  2. Align the bar straight with the front fork/wheel line.
  3. Tighten the two main stem bolts with a 6 mm hex key.

Adjust bar tilt using the two side bolts (5 mm hex). Tighten securely.

3) Assemble Front Fender & Headlight

What you’re installing: front fender + headlight bracket to the fork crown and fender stays to fork tabs.

  1. Retrieve the fender from the rear basket. Shorter fender section faces forward, longer section faces rearward.
  2. Carefully snip the headlight wire’s shipping zip tie (do not cut the cable).
  3. At the fork crown, loosen (do not remove) the two small bolts through the center tab (spacer sits behind). Use a 4 mm hex.
  4. Position the fender tab under the headlight bracket; insert/realign the center bolt through the light, fender tab, spacer, and fork crown. Hand‑tighten.
  5. Attach fender stays to the fork tabs on each side. Insert bolts through the stays; place nuts on the inside. Tighten with 4 mm hex + 8 mm wrench.
  6. Center the fender over the tire path; then fully tighten the crown bolt and both stay bolts. Aim the headlight; snug its pivot bolt (4 mm hex + 8 mm wrench).

4) Install the Front Wheel (Front‑Hub Motor)

Important: Verify the brake rotor enters the caliper cleanly and the motor cable is not twisted.

  1. Remove transport caps and axle nuts/washers from the front wheel. Keep hardware in left/right piles.
  2. Identify the keyed (notched) washers:
  • Inner keyed washers install inside the fork, notch facing the dropout slot.
  • Outer keyed/safety washers align with the small holes on the fork tips (the anti‑rotation tab seats in the hole).
  1. Lift the fork, guide the rotor between the brake pads, and seat the fork fully onto the axle.
  2. Install outer keyed/safety washers so each tab engages the fork’s small hole.
  3. Refit axle nuts; hand‑tighten, then tighten firmly with a 19 mm wrench. Do not overtighten.
  4. Connect the motor cable: align the arrows on both connectors, push firmly together, then thread the collar until snug. Secure the excess with a zip tie and clip the tail.

5) Install the Rear Basket

  1. Remove the four pre‑installed bolts from the basket subframe on the trike.
  2. Place the basket on the subframe; align all four holes.
  3. Install bolts loosely with one washer on top and one beneath.
  4. Once all four are started, tighten with a 4 mm hex + 10 mm wrench. Do not cross‑thread.
  5. Remove the small plastic caps from the rear axle nuts.

6) Tires & Pressure

  • Inflate tires to the pressure printed on the sidewall. The typical max for this trike’s tires is 20 PSI (front and rear).
  • For efficiency, run near max; for a softer ride, use slightly less. Do not exceed sidewall max.

7) Reinstall & Power the Battery

  1. Slide the battery into its rail until it clicks. Lock if desired.
  2. Press the battery power button to wake it (small indicator light turns on).
  3. On the handlebar display, press/hold the Power button to turn the system on.

Display & Controls

  • Battery level bar, speed, odometer/trip, and Pedal Assist (PAS) level are shown on screen.
  • Adjust PAS with + / − buttons.
  • Throttle: twist toward you to engage. The red button toggles throttle enable (pushed in = enabled; popped out = disabled).
  • Parking brake: squeeze the lever and push the parking pin; the trike will not roll.
  • Headlight: press/hold + to toggle.
  • Walk assist: press/hold to creep forward. Use cautiously.
  • Reverse: set PAS to 0, press again to enter R; slowly twist throttle to reverse (ideal for tight spaces).

8) Fit & Ride Adjustments

  • Fork lockout: On the right fork leg, unlock for rough/bumpy paths; lock for smooth pavement and maximum efficiency.
  • Saddle tilt: Loosen the underside clamp bolt (6 mm), set preferred angle (slight rearward tilt helps stability), tighten securely.
  • Saddle height: Set to allow a slight knee bend at the bottom of the pedal stroke. Adjust quick‑release tension so the lever closes firmly.
  • Pedals: Verify both pedals are tight with a 15 mm wrench.

9) Pre‑Ride Safety Check (Required)

  • Wheels fully seated; axle nuts tight.
  • Motor and display cables fully seated; no pinched wires.
  • Brakes function with firm lever feel; wheels spin without significant rubbing.
  • Handlebar/stem bolts tight; bar aligned straight.
  • Tires inflated; reflectors/lights installed and working.

10) Quick Brake Alignment (If Needed)

  1. With a 5 mm hex, loosen the two caliper‑to‑mount bolts slightly.
  2. Squeeze and hold the brake lever to center the caliper over the rotor.
  3. While holding the lever, re‑tighten both bolts evenly. Release and spin the wheel.
  4. If light rubbing persists, make tiny side‑to‑side nudges to the caliper, re‑snug, and retest.

If unsure or heavy rubbing persists, consult a local shop or mobile mechanic.

11) Quick Derailleur Indexing (If Needed)

  1. Shift the handlebar shifter to 7th (smallest rear cog). Pedal while shifting.
  2. Loosen the cable pinch bolt (typically 9 mm) at the derailleur; let the shifter sit in 7th.
  3. Use the H‑limit screw to position the jockey wheel so the chain runs quietly on the 7th cog.
  4. Pull the cable taut and re‑tighten the pinch bolt.
  5. Shift 7→1, one click at a time while pedaling. If a gear hesitates, add cable tension via the barrel adjuster (turn counter‑clockwise in small increments). If it overshifts, reduce tension (clockwise).
  6. Verify 1→7 upshifts are smooth. The L‑limit prevents the chain from going past 1st; adjust only if necessary.

Gears and pads settle slightly during the first rides; minor re‑adjustments are normal.
