Seniors, here's why you shouldn't be scared of e-bikes. Stick around. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I've nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm going to talk about seniors, and why you shouldn't be scared of electric bikes. Now, before I get into it, hit the subscribe button below. Stay in touch with us here at SixThreeZero. Be the first to know about all the new content we're putting out, giveaways we do, and of course, new product releases.
Right here I've got four e-bikes that are also great for seniors that are linked in the description below, also linked in the corner of the video. If you want to check these out, you can see them on our website and understand more about why these e-bikes I have here and e-trikes are great for seniors.
All right, I've done hundreds of test rides with senior riders over the age of 55, 60, 70, and even 80 years old, and I've witnessed firsthand a lot of first-time riders and I see a lot of senior riders getting into e-biking and the first time they sit down, there's a lot of fear and I think the fear is a good thing because it makes sure you are controlled and thoughtful and you understand everything, which I think is great.
The one thing I don't want to see though is any senior rider that stays on the sideline because they're too scared of an e-bike and they feel it may be scary or risky for them. Now, before I get into it, I do want to say that accidents do happen on electric bikes. It's not impossible. Accidents can happen on regular bikes. Now I'm going to talk to you about why I believe there are options that can prevent accidents. There are also other things to prevent accidents as well, but I can't lie, e-bikes are dangerous. Bikes are dangerous. Walking in the street is dangerous. Everything's dangerous. Being out in the open anywhere in the world is dangerous to an extent. So it's just important that, or it's not important, but I would just advocate for if you have an interest in e-bikes, here's why I don't want to see your fear keeping you on the sidelines.
Now, number one, there are lots of different electric bikes out there, different models, different shapes, different sizes. I've put four right here that SixThreeZero offers. We have three-wheel e-bikes, our EVRYjourney three-wheel bike. This is our zip and fold, which is a foldable e-bike with a pretty low open step-through. We have a 16-inch foldable e-trike with a very low step-through again and also a very low seat that's very easy to mount and dismount. And then right here on the end, we have our simple step-through, which is the lowest step-through e-bike on the market where you can step right through the frame. Again, all four of these are linked in the description below.
But the key to all this is that there are different types of electric bikes including electric trikes or three-wheel e-bikes. So if you're a senior worried about balance, but you want to continue to be out there bike riding, you can opt for three wheels, something with a 16-inch low step through. What's beautiful about this is that if you have some sort of arthritis in your hips or you can't lift your leg, getting on and off is very simple and very easy. So the main point I want to make is that there are different options. You don't have to just look at e-bikes and say, "Oh, it's not for me." There are different motor sizes or different battery sizes. And if you want more information about what specifically I think is good for seniors or what bike models, check out the other videos on our YouTube channels.
I go through specifically all of these bikes, these e-bikes, and other e-bikes, and what features are best for seniors to keep them safe while riding and what makes them easy to mount and dismount. So there are lots of variations including motor sizes. So if you're a senior looking for an e-bike, not all motor sizes are created equal. You can go with something less powerful. There are also throttles or no throttles. Throttles usually are either twisting up here or thumb throttles, and those operate where you push them, and the bike goes. You don't have to have that if you don't want it. You can just have a pedal assist. You could have a very light pedal assist. You could have something that just assists you a little bit so you get what you need. There are different types of sensors that have more, that click on when you pedal or do more of a gradual movement when you pedal.
So there are ways and features that can make e-bikes accessible and easy to ride for all types of riders over the age of 60. So I want riders to know that before they just have too much fear, or maybe they're judging them on the outside, seeing people zip around on them. I know a lot of people see riders right now zipping through streets going 20, 30, 40, 50 miles an hour. And of course, there's an inclination to say e-bikes are dangerous. Well, they are dangerous if they're ridden like that. The other reality too is the specs on a lot of those e-bikes are dangerous and probably too much, too big motors, too big batteries. Things that we don't need on e-bikes are being produced. But if you are a senior looking for an e-bike, you can find the specs that will go at an appropriate pace, will give you assistance, and they don't have to be overpowering and scary. Quite honestly, if you want to opt for three wheels, they're great these days to have electric assist because three-wheel bikes used to be clunky, and difficult to pedal. If you can get a very low motor like the EVRYjourney 250 watts gives you just enough assistance to pedal, making it just a little bit easier, you can take on hills and be back out riding on three wheels like you were on two wheels.
It can just keep you getting exercise. And if you have those balance issues, you don't have to sit on the sidelines anymore if you couldn't do it on a two-wheel bike like you used to. So it's just important to know that those options do exist, and I just don't want to see senior riders not testing or trying e-bikes or the fear of taking over to keep them on the sidelines. Here in San Clemente, there are lots and lots and lots of over-60 riders that are getting into e-biking, and they're finding a whole new world with an e-bike now and finding a new love for getting back into cycling and the outdoors and it's truly, truly a great thing to see.
So my suggestion is, seniors, don't be afraid of e-bikes, but find the right one for you. And if you have any questions or need help, I'd be happy to guide you. I've done hundreds of test rides with senior riders and I see what works and doesn't work. I see motor sizes. We can answer any questions you may have, and we would love to guide you through the process. So drop a comment below email us, at theteam@sixthreezero.com, or call us, at 310-982-2877. Also, all four of these are linked in a description in the corner of the video. There'll also be a link at the end of the video, and you can see some of these features like the very low step-through two-wheel bike, the low step-through trike with the 16-inch wheels, easy mounting and dismounting, a low step-through foldable, and again, the cruising trike, all great options for senior e-bike riders.
Now, we also offer a 30-day test ride on your e-bike policy. If you don't love it in the first 30 days, you can send it back, no questions asked, no money out of your pocket. In addition to that, we'll warranty everything for a year. If anything goes wrong in the first year, we'll take care of all the parts and labor to make sure you're still up and riding. Lastly, join our Facebook Pedalers group. There are tons of senior riders there. Ask them questions. Get their input on their e-bike. See how they feel about e-biking before you jump in. Then once you have your e-bike, post in the group, and make friends, it's tons of fun. Then you can also download the SixThreeZero Pedalers app, track your rides, and compete on our leaderboard. It is a lot of fun. So thanks for sticking around, and don't forget, it's your journey or experience, enjoy the ride.
