Safe & Comfortable Bicycle for Seniors that's Easy To Ride | EVRYjourney Bicycle Review

A safe, easy-to-ride bicycle for seniors. You're going to want to see this, stick around.

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry, and today I'm going to show you a safe, easy-to-ride bicycle for seniors. But before I do, hit the subscribe button below, and stay in touch with us here at Sixthreezero. Be the first to know about all the new content we're putting out, giveaways we do, and of course, new product releases.

All right, so right here in front of me, I have the Sixthreezero EVRYjourney cruiser hybrid bike. It's going to be linked in the description below if you want to check it out on our website. And if you're a senior, ages over 50, 55 and you're getting back into bicycling for the first time in years, this is one of the best options for you and I'm going to explain why.

So the EVRYjourney from Sixthreezero has one major feature that sets it apart from a lot of other bicycles, which is this forward pedaling design. Now, you can see here the crank is located about six inches in front of the seat clamp. Typically, the pedals are going to fall directly below the seat right here.

Now with them shifted forward, it does a few things. One, it allows the seat to be lower to the ground, so it's going to create an easier on, off. You can slide onto it.

Now, two, when you're mounted, your feet are going to be able to be flat on the ground when stopped, but you're still going to be able to get proper leg extension when riding because the pedals are moved forward. You are getting that extra leg extension because of the pedals being moved forward, so you don't have to raise your seat higher to get the leg extension for your body. This means stopping is safer, mounting and dismounting is safer, and it creates a little bit more of a laid-back riding position.

Now, one caveat, it's going to make standing up on climbing hills more challenging, but that's why this cruiser is meant for around the town, primarily flat ground. But you can do hills, you just don't want to do major-grade hills.

Now, the point of this cruiser, though, is to get you out, flat ground, cruising around town and it's going to put you in an ultra, ultra-comfortable position. You can see from my side profile that my back is upright, my arms are relaxed, and the handlebars curve into your body, so you don't have to extend here and lean forward. They can come right here. Your wrists can be relaxed, your elbows are relaxed and the whole ride feels very relaxed and easy to do. So, it just sets you up for a very comfortable, safe, easy-feeling riding position.

Now, in addition to that, you have the step-over frame right here, where you can mount and dismount easily. One of the key features I find that most riders over the age of 50, and 55 appreciate is a step-through frame with an easy on, and off. And you need a combination of the lower frame with the lower seat so you can just sit down and then come right over like this, and get on and off very easily.

Now, a few other features that are nice on this EVRYjourney is you have the 2.125-inch tires right here, which give you a little bit of extra width to absorb the bumps during rides. Also is going to help with the balance, as opposed to a narrower tire you're going to feel more of the vibrations and the bumps when you're riding around town. And again, the extra width is just going to make balancing just a touch bit easier.

You also have the nice brown accents on the navy cream and teal options. This also comes in a matte black with a black seat and black grips. You have the rear rack here to bring up to 10 pounds of items with you on bike rides. You can use bungee cords to strap things on there. You can also get saddlebags, which we sell on our website to match the bike, on either side here, they can hang over.

You also have front and rear hand brakes. So, up here, you can have ample riding power with your hand brakes.

And you have a twist shifter, seven speeds. So seven speeds is great, because it's not too many, it's not too little. You have first gear for climbing hills, and seventh gear if you want to pick up the pace a little bit and start getting moving, shift into seventh. It's going to get harder to pedal, but it's going to allow you to go faster.

Now, the other real benefit that I find a lot of people love is the four custom adjustment points. So, you can easily move your seat up and down right here. You can also loosen a bolt under the seat. That's going to allow you to tilt the seat forward and backward. Now, that requires a tool. As you move up to the handlebars, you can raise and lower the handlebars and tilt the handlebars.

So, we call this our four custom adjustment points so you can dial it in perfectly to your body. So if you like the handlebars a little bit more up or a little bit down, it's totally up to you. And this bike will accommodate riders five-foot to about six-foot-two.

Now, five-foot, five-one, it's going to depend on your inseam. We have some sizing videos on our YouTube channel of different rider heights. I've seen some five-foot riders where this does work, and I've seen other five-foot riders where it doesn't work. So, take a look at the inseam measurements that you see in the video because some of the five-foot-two riders may have the same inseam as you, even if you're five feet. So something to pay attention to.

Now, you can see the beautiful paint job, the front and rear fenders. This is just a great all-around town, fun, easy to ride, and I say easy to ride because of how upright and comfortable the position is, and also because of the ability to custom adjust to your body. And this forward pedaling design just makes it so easy to ride and not feel any pain.

That's one thing, right? When you get out on a bike now as a senior, you don't want to feel pain in your back or anywhere else after a long ride. You also have this wide saddle right here, which is comfortable. Or, we have other options with backrests that are extra wide that you can upgrade to if you'd like something with a little bit more cushioning or a little bit wider.

Now I can just show you, I don't have my helmet on right now, but it's very easy to get riding. You can see I'm upright. Just push off and from here, very relaxed, very upright. Easy to steer.

Now, some people do comment on the handlebar width. It's something when you get used to it, you will appreciate it because it comes into your body. Like I said, you don't have to reach.

Freewheel, so it will not break when you pedal backward.

It's just so smooth and so fun.

All right, so as you just saw, too, when you're done riding the dismounting is very simple, very easy. It's such a fun, easy-to-ride cruiser hybrid.
