Ride Safe: Top E-Trikes w/a Headlight: The One Feature Every E-Trike Needs

Electric tricycles with a headlight. What you need to know?

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today, I'm gonna show you and talk to you about e-trikes with a headlight. All right, I've got five of our e-trikes right here. All have headlights on them. So you're looking for an electric trike, and headlights are important to you. I don't blame you, especially if you're gonna ride at dusk or early in the morning or late at night, you want to have a headlight. Now, from my experience, I would say most e-trikes at this point come with a headlight integrated into the electronics. Now, I could be wrong in some aspects, we sell our base model electric trike that doesn't come with integrated e-trikes, that's because we integrated the headlight. After all, we're trying to keep it affordable and the cost as low as possible on that model. All of our e-trikes right here do have integrated headlights, and they all can be controlled from the display. So if you are looking for a headlight on your trike, you wanna make sure you can control it from the display. Usually, it's as simple as pressing together two buttons, holding them, and your headlight will come on.

I would demonstrate, but I think with the sun here, we probably won't even be able to see the headlight in action right now. Now, the other piece of that is integrating the rear lights into the brake calipers as well. Now, not every e-trike necessarily has that. This is a feature where you would need a certain controller, which is the brain of the e-trike, to have the capability of lighting the rear tail lights and front tail lights. Typically, the rear tail lights are gonna be activated when pulling the brake levers, just like brake lights. Both of these have that option. So does the Relaxed body and our Rickshaw as well. This model doesn't have the rear, but it does have the front headlights. So now there are different types of headlights as well. There are bigger ones. Uh, they're smaller ones, kind of depends on what you're looking for and what kind of riding you're going to do if you had plans to replace your headlight and the headlight is really important to you, you'd want to make sure that you could replace it with a bigger headlight. If that's something you were considering, maybe down the road because there are big round headlights, the smaller ones though.

They aren't necessarily less powerful than the bigger ones. So that's also something to think about, just because you have a big old round circular light doesn't mean it's putting out as many lumens as one of the smaller ones here does. So, again, something to think about, if you're gonna do a lot of street riding at night, you may want to get a bigger headlight on the front of your trike so you can be seen out there if you're gonna go in the bike lanes, especially. So, A lot of the e-trikes I've seen have lights like ours, but again, some versions have bigger circular lights that look honestly like a car light, but there'll only be one of them on the front. But most e-trikes are now coming integrated with a front headlight. If you're not happy with the power of the front headlight it comes with, you can also pick up additional lighting for not too expensive, either on Amazon or at your local bike shop. So you could make your bike bright at night if you wanted to. Put one on the handlebars, put one on the front. You could have multiple lights, even on the rear as well. So that option always exists.
