I'm 65+ and I Found the Perfect Electric Trike for Seniors! A Recumbent Tricycle Seniors Must See

Hi, I’m Charlene and this is my Simple Glide Recumbent E-Trike by Sixthreezero. There were a lot of reasons that I wanted to at first consider this bike. The first was fun, exercise, comfort, and safety, as far as fun goes, I was looking for something that my husband and I could do together, yet separately. Hence, this bike is for exercise. Well, there's a stop sign right down the end of the corner, about a block away, that I set my goal for, and I failed the first time I rode the bike. We'll talk more about that in a second. Comfort and then safety, I feel like this bike has done everything I asked for. The seat sits low, it sits over these back wheels. It's comfortable, and that was one of the reasons I went with it, truly is your ride, sometimes we ride up to four and a half miles, which may not seem long to a lot of people, but to us seniors, it is a long way.

You never get uncomfortable in your bottom, or your back. The pedals, because the seat sits low. When I ride a regular bicycle, the seat on the bicycle is awkward for me. I've got a bad hip, I've got a bad knee, I have arthritis in my feet, my knee, my hips, my hands, my shoulder, and my lower back. The bike itself allows me to use my hands either by simply pedaling because I'm holding on, or shifting gears. My feet and my ankles are moving when I'm pedaling because of the way they pedal, and I'm not a bike maker, so y'all are just going to have to trust me. The way they move makes your hip move differently than when you're sitting on a two-wheeler. So for me, that is a major factor. Before the bike, I was limping around, extremely difficult to walk. Now, I walk with no limp and my hip does not hurt. So, the other thing is I'm a cardiac patient, so I need to do something that will increase my heart rate. I don't like one of those crazy classes people take, you know, to do their heart rates up. No, I just use the bike and it gets my blood pumping and gets my heart rate up, it also helps my brain because we're riding it on the streets in our neighborhood, and we have three neighborhoods that connect.

So I'm paying attention to traffic behind me, traffic in front of me. Am I going to make a left? Am I going to make a right? All of these things that when we drive a car, we just kind of go through the motions. You don't really think about it, but when you're sitting on this bike, out in the open like this, that's all you think about. It was easy to learn, I struggled just a tiny bit with the gears, but honestly, I'm directionally challenged, so it didn't surprise me. So after about a week, I was able to do it. The biggest benefit for me, even though I was looking for fun to begin with, was health. So if you guys are looking just for fun, here you go. If you're looking for good health benefits, here you go. If you're looking for comfort and safety, listen, I've turned every corner in this neighborhood and I just glide through those corners and I'm not going slow. All right, so here you go.
