How to Assemble the Simple Glide Recumbent E Trike! This Electric Tricycle Comes 95% Assembled

How to Assemble the Simple Glide Recumbent E-Trike (95% Pre-Assembled)

Assembling the Simple Glide 500W Recumbent Electric Trike is refreshingly straightforward. This trike arrives about 95% assembled, and with a few basic tools and a bit of care, you can be fully set up and riding in a short amount of time.

This guide walks you through the full assembly process, key adjustments, and final checks—clearly and step by step.

What to Expect Out of the Box

  • Box weight: ~100 lbs
  • Fully assembled trike weight: ~92 lbs
  • Trike dimensions: 61” long × 33” wide
  • Box height: ~30” (about 33–34” on shipping feet)

The front wheel is already installed, which saves a lot of time. Most of the remaining work involves installing the handlebars, basket, and seat.

Tools You’ll Need

Very little is required:

  • Allen (hex) keys (metric)
  • Box cutter or utility knife
  • Snips or strong scissors (for zip ties)

Assembly tools are also included in the box if you prefer to use those.

Step 1: Open the Box & Remove Packaging

  1. Cut and remove all exterior straps.
  2. Open the top of the box.
  3. Inside, you’ll find:
  • The seat back
  • Front basket
  • Charger and accessories

4.Carefully cut all zip ties. There are quite a few—double-check that all packaging is fully removed before proceeding.

Step 2: Install the Handlebars

  1. Remove the protective packaging from the handlebar stem.
  2. Locate the flat side on the handlebar post and align it with the flat side inside the steering tube.
  3. Loosen the quick-release if needed and slide the handlebars into place.
  4. Press the locking button on the stem to allow the lever to close.
  5. Lock the lever securely

Adjusting Handlebar Position

  • Use the tool-free adjustable goose-neck lever to set your preferred height and reach.
  • Tighten the lever once positioned.
  • If a wire disconnects during adjustment, simply match the arrows on the connectors and reconnect.

Step 3: Remove the Trike from the Box

To make this easier (and save the box):

  • Cut down two corners of the box to create a ramp.
  • Carefully roll the trike out.
  • Move the box and packaging aside before continuing.

Step 4: Install the Front Basket

  1. Remove the four mounting bolts (4mm Allen key).
  2. Place the metal mounting brackets inside the basket.
  3. Align the basket with the front mounting points.
  4. Thread all four bolts loosely first.
  5. Once aligned, tighten all bolts securely.

The basket will tilt with the handlebars, allowing full steering range.

Step 5: Install the Seat

This is the most hands-on part of the assembly.

  1. Remove the bolts zip-tied to the seat.
  2. For easier access, remove the battery: Insert the key, unlock, and slide the battery out.
  3. Tilt the trike gently onto a protected surface (a mat or cardboard works well).
  4. Align the seat mounting holes with the frame.
  5. Insert all four bolts loosely first.
  6. Once all bolts are threaded, tighten them fully.
  7. Return the trike upright and reinstall the battery.

Step 6: Adjust the Seat Position

  • Use the lever beneath the seat.
  • Push the lever down (do not pull).
  • Slide the seat forward or backward to your preferred position.
  • Release the lever to lock it in place.

Step 7: Final Setup & Controls Overview

Battery & Power

  • Turn the battery on using the button on the battery itself.
  • Power on the display from the handlebar controls.

Brakes

  • The trike includes parking brakes.
  • Pull the brake lever and press the locking button to engage.
  • Pull again to release.

Gears

  • 7-speed drivetrain.
  • Shift only while pedaling.
  • Lower gears for starting and hills; higher gears for cruising.

Throttle & Assist

  • Twist throttle allows riding without pedaling.
  • Pedal-assist levels control how much motor help you receive.
  • A kill switch disables the throttle when needed.

Reverse Mode

  • Shift one level below pedal assist zero to engage reverse.
  • Use the throttle to back up slowly and safely.

Brake & Gear Adjustments (If Needed)

The trike is pre-tuned at the factory, but minor adjustments may be needed over time.

  • Brake pads may need adjustment as they wear.
  • Gears can be fine-tuned using the derailleur barrel adjuster.

If you’re not comfortable doing adjustments yourself, any bike shop or mobile bike mechanic can help. Safety always comes first.

Charging the Battery

  • The battery can be charged on or off the trike.
  • Plug the charger into a standard wall outlet, then into the battery.
  • Charging time: approximately 4–8 hours.
  • Charger light:
  • Red: charging
  • Green/Blue: fully charged

To reinstall the battery, slide it in from the back until it clicks securely.

Optional Handlebar Upgrade

An alternate handlebar is included in the box if you prefer a different rise or reach.

  • Swapping handlebars requires removing grips and controls.
  • Not difficult, but expect 30–60 minutes for the process.
  • Cable length should be checked before switching to taller or wider bars.

You’re Ready to Ride

Once assembled, adjusted, and charged, your Simple Glide Recumbent E-Trike is ready to go. With its stable recumbent design, reverse feature, and powerful 500W motor, it’s built for comfort, confidence, and everyday practicality.
