Golden Years on Wheels: Senior Couples: Electric Trike & Bike Adventures

Hey everyone! We're out here on this pretty big hill today, and we've got a great group of riders of all ages. We've got Jack, who's 70, and Jack 73. Then there's Phil, he's 71. Shakir is 58, and Mary, also 72, and she's rocking the trike!We've got a few different models with us. EVRYjourney 500 watts. I'm riding the Body Ease. Jack's on the Reach Your Destination. And let me tell you, this hill? It's huge! Would anyone here try to tackle this on a regular bike? Probably not, right? Oh wow, this is just beautiful. I'm having so much fun! It's like being a kid again. I'm riding the Sixthreezero EZ Transit Folding Electric Trike. It's awesome because it folds up small, and it's super easy to get on and off with that low step-through.

One thing that's cool about this trike is the 16-inch tires. They make the step-through even lower than other trikes out there. It's got a 750-watt front hub motor and a 10.4 amp hour battery. That gives you a range of about 15 to 50 miles, depending on things like your weight, how much pedal assist you use, and if you use the throttle. This e-trike has a throttle, pedal assist with five levels, or you can turn both off and ride it like a regular bike. It even has seven gears! That's great for picking up speed or going up smaller hills. You can just downshift into first gear to make pedaling easier.

It also has front and rear disc brakes, and front and rear baskets. And check this out, you can adjust the height of the baskets and the seat! You can even adjust the handlebars to fold in or out. It's customizable to fit your body perfectly.Let's show you how it rides. The 12-inch wheels on some models keep the rider lower to the ground, which is great for stability. Now, Mary's going to show us the throttle. See how she can just go with the throttle alone? And she can even go in reverse! Just flip that red button and pedal backward, or use the throttle. As for the pedal assist levels, Power 5 is really powerful, probably best for steep hills. For flat ground, Power 1 is comfortable, but Power 5 is like a racehorse! This is a powerful bike, and it's so much fun to ride.Now, let's hear from some other riders!

Allison: I'm 70 years old. I'm 5’4 and a half. And one thing you're going to want when you're buying an electric bike is a comfortable one. Check out the seat. Make sure it's comfortable because you're going to be on it for a long time.

Kelly:  I am 5’3. I'm 62 years old. And get an electric bike with an engine of 500 or less. You don't need any more power than that as a senior citizen. You want to stay safe.

Mike: "Hi, I'm Mike, I'm 68 years old, 5 feet 10 and a half. My tip is to choose a company that's been around for a while. That way, you know they'll be there to support you and your bike in the future."

Armand: I'm 76 years old. I'm five feet six inches tall. And don't, my tip is don't be embarrassed when you're buying an e-bike if you have to go down and buy an e-trike. This bike is very comfortable.
