E-Bikes & Bikes Customised to You
All right. So this time of year, it's beautiful. Summer's coming up. A lot of people around this time start to think about getting their bodies back in shape a little bit so if that's you, let's talk about it.
All right. So it's late May here in Southern California right now and so it made me think about a lot of people ask, "What can I do to start getting in shape for summer?" If that's you, then we can talk about a few things. "Can you start to get in shape with your e-bike?" Yes, absolutely. You can get all the exercise you want out of an e-bike. A lot of people think that an e-bike's going to give you too much help with the motor and the battery, that you need a regular bike to get the exercise that you need to get more fit, to feel more confident about how you look and how you feel, but you can use an e-bike just as well as a regular bike for that.
So if you're thinking about that and a lot of folks are, obviously losing weight is a big thing for a lot of us. I've done it myself, gone through a little dieting plan at one time or another, but obviously, exercise is going to have to be part of that regimen.
My main advice and I've said this in other videos, is to diet. I really don't think you can out-exercise a bad diet. So it's just easier to not eat a slice of pizza than to eat a slice of pizza than go run for an hour to burn it off. Just eat healthy in the first place. That's the number one thing. That will get you started. But also use your e-bike to start getting more tones, to start building up some muscle, and to increase the efficiency of your cardiovascular system, and get those lungs and your heart moving.
The wonderful thing about an e-bike is that you can really dial in the exact amount of exercise you want, not just for the day or the week, but also for the exact moment that you're riding. You may need a little more assistance or a little less assist. It depends on how much exercise you're wanting to get during that day. Sometimes with an e-bike, especially like you may ride out 10 miles and then you want to have 10 miles coming back, on a regular bike that can sometimes be a little bit of a scary proposition because you think, "Oh my gosh, I'm out pretty far now and I don't know if I have the energy to get back," but with an e-bike that takes that anxiety away from you. So you can go farther, see more places, and also have more time to work your body, maybe get a little break and then start working out again.
But really the main thing is that the e-bike's not going to do all the work for you unless you want to unless you just want to put it at full throttle and just ride it like a motorcycle. You can do that if you, especially if you need to, or if you hit a hill but other than that, you can set it at the exact level that you need to get the exercise that's appropriate for where you are at this moment.
And why, for a lot of people, the e-bike is better than a regular bike is something like a steep hill or wind may be a hurdle for you. That may be something that's going to keep you from getting out there and getting the exercise you need. With an e-bike that takes that anxiety away. You can just get out there, start riding, and then if you encounter something that's a little more difficult for you, you can use the e-bike to assist you. You can either increase the pedal-assist or use the throttle to power over the hill or power through some wind or something like that.
So yeah, the e-bike in my opinion is just such an ideal way for so many people to get the exercises they need. Another thing too is that with an e-bike you could have a more relaxed posture than you might have on a more performance-oriented bike that you would need to kind of ride farther. So with a lot of our e-bikes like the EVRYjourney, for instance, you'll be sitting in a way that will take the strain off your back. It'll be really good for your back if you have a back problem. If you have a knee problem, the same thing. It has a nice pedal forward feature, leaves you close to the ground, gives you a nice relaxed posture and you'll also get the leg extension that you need to keep the strain off of your knees.
Again, also, the e-bike can help let you get that exercise while not putting strain on your knees. Obviously, if you're having to push really hard on like a regular bike, that's going to put a strain on your joints. With an e-bike, you can alleviate that pressure. So if you're getting ready for the summer, the e-bike is really an optimal way to go and I would highly recommend it.
Now, getting ready for summer is kind of like one of those things like getting ready... Like a New Year's resolution that doesn't work. "Okay, I'm going to get ready for summer." And then it lasts about a week or whatever. As far as that goes, that's a mind trick that you have to develop and the main thing is that you got to know why you're doing it. If it's just because you want to look a little better or you want to fit into a certain swimsuit, that's probably not powerful enough motivation, honestly. You're going to have to think of something more powerful.
I come up with tricks in my own mind to make myself work harder when I'm exercising. Mental tricks that will make me push harder, but you're going to have to come up with a reason. You have to find out really why you want this and if you don't really want that badly, you're not going to do it. There's no reason to if it's not that important to choose to eat more healthfully or to ride your e-bike farther or harder.
Hopefully, you'll just be riding the e-bike a lot for enjoyment but if you are doing it for beyond just the enjoyment, but also getting back in shape, getting your health back a little bit, getting ready for summer, you got to find something stronger than just looking good on the beach. All right. I hope that helps a little bit and have a great one.
