Electric Bike Beach Cruiser and Riding on Sand | Everything You Need to Know

Hey, guys. Dustin here, CEO of Sixthreezero. Today, I'm going to talk about electric bikes for the beach.

All right, let's jump right into it. Today, we're going to discuss electric bikes for the beach. Now, when we talk about electric bikes for the beach, sometimes people talk about the beach meaning at the beach. I'm going to talk about specifically today electric bikes for riding on the beach and then, I'll touch on at the beach. So the difference really is riding on the sand. And we sell beach cruisers and we have electric bikes for the beach, we have electric beach cruisers. There's a difference between electric bikes for the beach and to be used at the beach. I think that's very important.

Now the biggest thing regarding electric bikes for the beach is going to be the wheels. Riding through sand is going to be quite challenging if you don't have the right width tire or even the right tire tread. So the question is what electric bikes are right for the beach? You're going to need at least like a three-inch wide tire to really be able to ride in the sand.

Now our electric bikes, as an example, we do have a fat tire, every journey e-bike, which would work great on the beach actually. You can check that out on our website. It's the EVRYjourney electric fat tire 500 watt. That will take the sand on, no problem. You can cruise through. That's a four-inch tire.

Now our other models are 2.12 five-inch or two-inch. Those may be able to be ridden on hard-packed sand, but it's not recommended generally speaking. And if you hit the water and things like that, if you're close to the ocean or close to whatever the water is, you might sink into the sand a little bit so having no less than a three-inch wide tire if you're going to ride on the beach.

Now, the other thing is you've got the hard-packed sand and the soft-packed sand. The soft packed sand could be a challenge even with three-inch and four-inch tires, I'll be honest, depending on how deep the crevasses are of the sand. You may need to do pedal assist while you pedal and the motor helps, doing just the motor through that may be also challenging.

Now the one thing to really pay attention to if you're going to ride at the beach, your electric at the beach, is the sand kicking up into the motor or into the chain. Now, the motor's going to be, in our bikes as an example, they are housed inside the rear hub. So they're enclosed, but you still don't want sand getting in the chain, getting in the wheel, getting caught up in there. So if you are going to ride your electric bike at the beach, you want to make sure when you're done to do a thorough cleaning.

Something I like to do is to take an air compressor with a nozzle on the end and it can shoot out the air and really get in there and spray the bike off, spray the chain off, spray the motor off. If you don't have that, sometimes you can run vacuums in reverse or get a can of condensed air and really blow off all the sand out of the motor, things like that. That's going to be your biggest risk while going into the sand, which would be the same for a normal bike, not just an electric bike.

Now, riding at the beach, riding an electric bike at the beach, obviously, it's fair game really. I mean if you're riding on pavement, you could really ride any bike that you so choose. It's not like there's any specific bike that's better to be ridden at the beach, but it's kind of what you're looking for. If you're looking for comfort, like our beach cruiser, you can have thicker tires, softer ride. It's going to feel nicer, a wider seat, more relaxed. Typically, I'd think if you're riding at the beach, you're there for leisure to enjoy the scenery. So my personal biased opinion would be one of our e-bikes, which are super comfortable, super relaxed in light of taking the scenery, feel the ocean breeze.
