Do E-Bikes Ride the Same as Regular Bikes | Electric Bike FAQs

Hey, everyone. Peter here at sixthreezero. So you're new to e-bikes. Do they ride the same as regular bikes? Stay tuned.

All right. I know that when e-bikes first came into my awareness when it came onto my radar, I didn't quite really know what they were about, because I came from the non e-bike world and I loved racing. I loved riding. That's what I loved was the challenge of going up the hill. And so I wondered, what's up with this e-bike thing?

And now I'm a real advocate of it. I think e-bikes are fantastic. For a lot of reasons, which is for another video, but at first, you're like, "What in the world is it? I don't get it. I don't know how it works. I don't know how it feels. I don't know anything." So a lot of people want to know, what's the difference between pedaling a regular bike and an e-bike?

Well, quite frankly, it's the same. An e-bike is going to be heavier, but if you don't turn the battery on or anything like that, you can just ride the bike like a regular bike. It just rides. And sometimes I do that for an extra workout. I'll take it up a hill without any assist just to work my legs out. It's kind of fun.

But the only difference, basically, just to give you just a basic overview, because you haven't ridden one yet or you're just kind of getting your feet wet, is that you can turn the power on, obviously, and it will give you an assist. So you still ride the bike just the same as a regular bike, but it's easier or you can go faster. So you're riding the same, but it's almost like having a nice, strong tailwind behind you. So really, basically the same, but with extra power.

All right. Thanks for watching. I really hope that was helpful.
