Discover this Bike Feature all Seniors Love: Bicycling as a Senior Tips

Why seniors love this feature on bikes. Stick around to find out what it is.

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I've nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry, and today we're going to talk about why seniors love this one feature on bikes. Before we get into it, hit the subscribe button below, stay in touch with us here at sixthreezero, and be the first to know about all the new content we're putting out, giveaways we're doing, and of course new product releases.

All right, right here I have the sixthreezero EVRYjourney Cruiser Hybrid. This is an awesome around-the-town cruising bike. Really, comfortable. Really, lightweight. And there's something that this bike has, a feature that seniors over the age of 50, and 55 love. And that feature is something called forward pedaling design. Now, what that means is the pedals on a bike typically fall right below the seat. In this situation, they're moved forward about six, six, and a half inches. That creates what we call a forward-pedaling design. Now, what that does is that allows the rider to be lower to the ground. The seat can be lower, but the rider can still get ample leg extension because instead of having to raise the seat, they're getting the leg extension because of the pedals being moved forward. So let me show you.

Now, the other thing is this has a step-through frame so you can step through. So when I'm here, my feet can be flat on the ground and I'm going to get that extra leg extension while I'm riding. So your knees don't have to be cramped, but you can be lower to the ground so when you stop, you can feel safe and be able to balance. And I know as we get older, balance becomes more of an issue, and the risk of falling becomes something that we have more fear about. And so it's important to be on a bike that you feel safe on and has a riding position that will allow you to feel safe when you stop and when you go.

The key to this benefit is twofold. One, the mounting and dismounting are much easier because the seat will be lower, and of course, the step-through helps as well, but you can just slide onto the seat, and bring your leg through like that. If the seat's too high, getting on can be a lot more challenging on some other bikes if you want to get the proper leg extension. So you can see with this one, that getting on and off is much easier. Now, when you're riding, you're going to have this forward design, so there's not going to be as much downward pressure on your knees and your hips. You're pedaling a little bit out in front of you. It just creates a very relaxed, easygoing ride.

Now, I don't have my helmet on. I'm just going to do a little circle right here, but you can just see how relaxed and upright this position is, and truly just so enjoyable if you're looking for that cruising bike. The feature of the forward pedaling design just makes it, like I said, so much easier on your body, so much easier to mount and dismount. Now I stop, my feet can be flat. You can slide off here and I can just pull my leg out like that. Makes for something that I think a lot of seniors over the age of 55 could use if they're looking to get back into bike riding. And that's something else too. If you've been away from bike riding for many, many years, you want a bike design that's going to be simple to mount and dismount, and simple to start riding on again. So this feature, the forward pedaling feature is something you should look out for.

Lastly, we have a Facebook Pedalers group with thousands of riders. Join the group in advance of purchasing, ask questions, and see how they like their bike. Then, once you have your bike, post photos in the group, and make friends. It's tons of fun. And we also have an app you can track your rides on. That's a lot of fun as well.

So thanks for sticking around and don't forget, it's your journey, your experience. Enjoy the ride.
