Can We HANDLE This Electric Rickshaw? (Shockingly Easy or Total Fail?) The Best EBike for Passengers

Ever ridden an electric rickshaw? You've got to stick around to see our first-time experience!

Dustin: Hey, everyone, I'm Dustin. I've been in the bike and e-bike industry for almost 20 years. Today, I'm joined by Isis and Laura, and they're about to take their very first ride ever on our electric Rickshaw, with the additional passenger seat hooked up! Alright, so this is the EVRYjourney Rickshaw. It comes with the main seat, but we've got our extra row of seating hooked up as well. You can also purchase an add-on to put a trailer back there, or an extra seat like the one Laura's sitting on. Now, we've got Isis, she's 5'10", and Laura's 5'3". We're going to go for a little ride. I'm going to take them for a ride first, and then we're going to swap and let them give it a try driving as well. So, let's get all situated and get our camera ready. And we'll take you with us!

Dustin: Okay, we are all mounted up and ready to go for a ride! This is our 1,000-watt mid-drive, or you can opt for our 750-watt front hub as well. So, I can use the throttle and not pedal, or I can pedal too. Let me just turn my pedal assist level up. There we go.

Dustin: How's the ride back there?

Isis: A little bumpy, hold on!

Laura: Fun, right? It is. It does.

Dustin: Don't get hit there, Lisa. Alright. Alright, I'm going to turn around, and then we're gonna let you guys try to drive!

Dustin: Alright, let's just swap right here. Isis, you're gonna go first. Okay? Yeah, that's our system. Okay. Okay. Alright, buckle up, everyone!

Isis: What's going on back here? Is the brake on? Sorry, stop for a second.

Dustin: Yeah, it sounds like the brake may be on. I think we're good. Oh, yeah. Okay.

Isis: Okay, yeah. Now I can't do no-hands; I have to be responsible.

Dustin: Isn't it crazy to think you have two people behind you?

Isis: It is, because I feel so free.

Laura: Can't tell, right?

Isis: You can't tell at all, no. It's insane.

Dustin: Just do the throttle too. Stop pedaling and do the throttle.

Isis: Chill. Smooth. Probably a little bumpy. Oh my god. I'm so sorry.

Dustin: No, you're good. Okay.

Isis: Yeah, I would not know that there are two people behind me.

Dustin: And it's easy to steer, right?

Isis: It is easy to steer, yes. There are no issues whatsoever, very in control.

Dustin: Alright, we could stop here and let Laura take over. Oh, do you want the seat down?

Isis: Oh yeah. She has to climb a mountain to get there.

Dustin: There you go. Yep. Just don't jerk it. Remember, ease into it. Now that you're on the back of the bike, are you a little worried, eh?

Isis: No, I'm not worried. I just... I've ridden on this many times.

Dustin: Yeah, normally we'd have a footplate back there too.

Isis: Oh, okay. Yeah.

Laura: There you go, opening it up now. I like it. It's nice when you get the breeze going.

Dustin: Yeah, if you just want to go up past where that opening is and then make a U-turn. A little farther, like where this driveway is, that way, if you need the extra space, yeah, this is good.

Isis: That was so smooth! Like, the steering is so good.

Dustin: Yeah. And you feel safe back here, right?

Laura: Yeah, yeah. Well, no, just kidding. Perfect transportation for the beach!

Dustin: Exactly. Oh, I think our battery's dying.

Laura: Yeah, I think that's our battery dying. I tried to charge it as much as I could.

Dustin: We'll make it, we'll make it! Pedal hard for this hill! Pedal hard! Don't brake! Go hard! Fast, fast, fast! There you go, to evade all the forklifts and couches.

Laura: Exactly. There we go, we're cooking!

Dustin: Alright, you can pull her in for parking. Perfect. And then the brake is like that. I'm just going to hang out right here.

Dustin: So, we did it! And what did you think of the steering?

Laura: Easy! Yeah. And balanced, and you have the throttle, so it can go easily too.

Dustin: How about you, Isis?

Isis: Yeah, I think the steering was really simple. And at no time did I feel like it was just me riding a bicycle. I didn't know there were two people behind me. So that was nice.
