Can This 4-Wheel E-Bike Climb Hills? We Tested the ANYterrain 4-Wheel E-Bike on Steep Hills

How does the four-wheel any-terrain e-bike do on hills?

Hey, I'm Dustin with 20 years in the bike and e-bike industry. Today, I'll take the any-terrain four-wheel e-bike out on some hills so you can see its performance. This is the any-terrain four-wheel e-bike with a 750 watt rear mount motor, four independent wheels for stability, hydraulic disc brakes, four-inch wide tires, and plenty of cargo space. If you want an alternative to a three-wheel bike, this is a fun option. Now, let's see how it handles hills. It's a 750-watt rear-mount motor. It's that way. So it is street legal and fits the e-bike guidelines. And it's heavy. It's 122 pounds, and I'm 230 pounds. So you've also got four, four-inch wide tires. So traversing hills on this is not going to be as easy on a two-wheel e-bike or even a three-wheel e-bike. So that's something to keep in mind. Now, what you give up in that, you do gain in stability, but also, the weight of the rider has a big impact. So I'm not gonna be able to get up this hill by just pressing the throttle. It's not gonna happen. But remember, this is an e-bike, not a quad. But I will be able to get up the hill. So I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna turn around and go up the hill, and I'm gonna put it in level 5 assistance. And you can see it's a decent little hill here, right? I mean, pretty decent angle and, you know, not super long, but in terms of the grade, you know, we're probably looking at 8% grade. And if you're not familiar with grades, that's kind of, you know, 8% is actually a pretty decent little grade. So you can look that up and check it out. So I'm going to get in position, and we're going to take you up the hill, and I'll show you how it performs. Okay, let's go ahead and traverse this hill.

I have it in gear six right now, which is kind of high, but sometimes I like it higher just to help with pedaling. But I can tell already I'm most likely going to have to downshift. So go ahead and kick it down into five. Okay, now I'm in four. And I have it in level assistance five. And again, pretty easy. I'm not exerting myself too much. How are you doing? So I'm in gear four. Now, if I wanted to make it even easier, I could go ahead and shift it down one, okay, so I made it up that hill, no problem. If you can see this one, another good-sized hill. So unfortunately, the videographer's bike died, but I made it up, and I'm gonna take on this hill for you too, and then come downhill, and you can see, and again, if you're lighter than me, it's gonna be even easier, so under 230 pounds. But we should be able to get up this, no problem, too. So again, I'm in level five. I'm already on a little bit of an incline, which does make the start a little more challenging. And this may actually be a little more of a grade than the previous one. Maybe not. Actually, I mean, no problem. And again, I'm still in gear four, so I could make this even easier by shifting it down. But yeah, I mean, exerting no energy. So I'm going to go around up here and turn around. All right, now we're coming down. You're going to see me in a few seconds here. Here I come. And honestly, braking on the downhill is no problem. You've got four hydraulic disc brakes, and you can stop smoothly, safely, and easily. All right. So again, the hills are still not bad. Depending on the weight of the rider, that's going to have a big impact. But I mean, no physical exertion for me at all.
