Can my e-bike brakes stop me at 30 miles an hour? Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I will show you if my e-bike brakes can stop me at 30 miles an hour. All right it's our Simple Step-Thru a 500-watt electric bike. We are going to go down a pretty big hill. You may be able to see up here. Very long. And on the downhill, I can hit 30 miles an hour. Now, we can't get to 30 with the e-bike because it's a street-legal motor that caps out at 20 miles an hour at the throttle and up to 28 in pedal assist. But, on a downhill, you can get going fast. So I just want to demonstrate these disc brakes and how powerful they are and how easily they stop us even at 30 miles an hour. So let's get ready to ride here. And I'm going to turn on my GoPro here as well. So you're going to be able to see firsthand my point of view. Now, the Simple Step-thru is great because it's got this easy low step-through.

Now if miles per hour is right here, you might be able to catch a glimpse of that on the downhill. And whenever our camera person's ready, we will be off and running. Okay, here we go. Now I won't even have to do much in terms of using the electric to hit 30. So we're going to sort of build our speed here as we come around this little turn. And we start to hit a massive downhill. So I'm even going to back off the electric. And just let gravity take us. Let's see. I can speed this up. Let's get some more momentum. Okay. Now we have gravity on our side. Here we go. Okay. 25. 26. 27. 28. 29 and 30 and hit our brakes. And no problem, I eased into them and we stopped. We almost hit 31. Hopefully, you guys can see that on the display. But yeah, we got to about 31 miles an hour and honestly, I felt safe and stable and I'm curious if we kept going where we would have ended up on the downhill top speed there, but we got a stoplight here. So there you have it my e-bike brake my e-bike brakes stopped me at 30 miles an hour.
