4 Best Affordable EBikes for Seniors in 2024: Electric Bikes for Seniors You Must See

The four best e-bikes for seniors will be affordable in 2024. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm going to show you the four best e-bikes that are affordable for seniors in 2024. All right, so I've got four e-bikes here, a Simple Step-Thru 20 inches, a Relaxed Body, a Simple Step-Thru 26 inches, and Evryjourney step through. Now, the reason I believe these e-bikes are great for seniors is because they're all easy to mount and dismount. And also the motor sizes are a good match for what I've seen in all the test rides I've done with seniors. 500 watts, 250 watts seem to be the ideal motor size for a lot of seniors. The EvryJourney comes in 500 watts and 250 watts, so if you want a little more power, you can opt for the 500 watts. But what makes these e-bikes stand out is how easy they are to get on and off, and also the comfortable riding position, and also they are under every bike here currently is under fifteen hundred dollars retail shipped to you. So it's a very affordable electric bike. And like I said, the power is in line with what I've seen most seniors prefer, and the riding position and mounting.

So let's work our way over here to the Simple Step-Thru 20-inch and walk you through why this is a top pick for seniors for an e-bike in 2024. Now, first and foremost, you're going to look at this and see that it's got a very low step-through height. It's only nine inches to step over the frame and mount. Now, this makes it very appealing because it's super simple to get on and off to easily mount and dismount. This is a 500-watt rear hub motor, so you can still get up hills. Rider's up to 300 pounds. I'm 225 pounds, and if you check out on our channel, there's a video of me going uphill on this with no problem. You've got your five levels of pedal assist. You also have a throttle if you don't want to pedal at all. You can use the throttle. It has a 10.4 amp hour battery which is going to take you up to 50 miles. You've also got front and rear disc brakes that stop on a dime. So this is a great option. The other cool thing is the seat here in the lowest position. Goes down to a very low height, which is only 29 inches. So getting on and off is very simple and easy on this e-bike. So if you're looking for the absolute simplest mounting and dismounting, this is it. The other benefit of this is how light it is. With the battery, it weighs 53 pounds, without the battery you're looking at, 45 pounds. So throwing this in your car, transporting it, putting it on a rack, it's going to be very simple and easy. Now, people may also ask, how about putting on a rack? Well, you can put a crossbar here to put that on a car rack. Also, if you want to throw it in the back of your car, we have a video for that as well. You can simply pull this down and the handlebars fold down, which makes it very compact and easy to transport.

And I know there are a lot of seniors out there that do RVing. So this is a good option if you want to be able to throw it inside the RV and not take up a lot of space. Awesome. Now, let's work our way over to the 26-inch. So if you're a rider, this is a simple step through. This is also a 500-watt, 10.4 amp hour battery. You're going to get that up to 50 miles of range. You also have a throttle and pedal assist levels one through five. Now, this step-through height is a little higher than the 20 inches. It's 11 inches. But if you're looking for a bike, an e-bike where you may pedal a little bit more, you like the pedal assist and you want to get more distance out of each pedal stroke, having a bigger tire is going to benefit you. So this is a good option if you maybe want to ride without the motor or you like to stay in lower pedal assist and you want it to feel like a bicycle. Now, not to say the 20-inch doesn't, but you've got those small tires. So, if you like to pedal, you're going to have to make way more rotations on the 20-inch than you will on the 26-inch. And, surprisingly, this is only three pounds heavier. This is 56 pounds with the battery, 48 pounds without so it's not that much heavier, actually than the 26 or the 20 inches and I forgot to mention as well, is you've got this ergonomic riding position where the bars come into your body, your back is upright, and your arms can be relaxed while you're riding, and it's easy on your body, so it means long rides with no pain. That is very key. Now, one thing I want to slide back down to the 20-inch and I forgot to mention is also these bars come right into the rider's body.

Same thing, and you can raise and lower these handlebars easily here with the quick release. You can also tilt them in, so if you want the bars right here, you can find the ideal position on this. This is very comfortable, and these ape hangers allow you to find an ideal riding position. Okay, let's move down now here to the EvryJourney. The cool thing about EvryJourney is the same specs, 500 watts, throttle, pedal assist, and up to 50 miles. And I forgot to mention the top speeds on all these are going to cap out at 20 miles an hour with the throttle. In pedal assist, the motor's capable of 28, but I see most people, you know, hitting an absolute max of about 23 miles an hour in the highest level of pedal assist. Now, the stepover height on the EvryJourney is a little bit higher. It's 17 inches. But the benefit is how low this seat is. So the seat is only 30 inches. And I forgot to mention on the Simple Step-Thru here, that the seat is just a touch higher than the EvryJourney. So this is 32 inches high. So this has an even lower seat. So this can accommodate riders five feet and up. So you can still step through the frame. Now the benefit also is if you notice these pedals are moved forward six inches. What I mean by that, typically the pedals are right below the seat. We've moved them forward six inches. This allows the rider to be lower to the ground. The seat can be lower, but you can still get that leg extension when riding because of the pedals being moved forward. So as a result of that, get your feet flat, feel safer, and slide onto the seat easily, but still get leg extension when you're pedaling. So it's a great option, especially for the senior rider because of how easy it is to mount and dismount and how safe it feels and safety. I know is an important thing for e-bike riders over the age of 60.

So the EvryJourney is, a great option, fully customizable, find the right riding position for you, and you've got that low seat height, low step through, and that forward pedaling design. All right, last but not least, we have our Relaxed Body, one of our newest e-bikes. Now, this is what we call a semi-recumbent e-bike, and you can see here, these pedals are moved forward 12 inches. So, you've got an extremely low seat height on this one. So that's only 28 inches. You can see, this is 28-inch seat, this is 29 inches, so even on a 26-inch wheel, that seat goes low. So mounting and dismounting is very simple, and your step-over height is 17 inches on this as well. So you can step through the frame, slide onto the seat, and now you still get perfect leg extension because the pedals are moved forward. Now the seat's a little bit low for me. The other cool thing is these ape hanger handlebars can be fully adjusted. Bring them in, tilt them into your body, and find the exact position that you want them to be in so you can be upright, you can be in the position that's best for you. So this e-bike will accommodate riders four, eleven to six foot five. We're going to have a sizing video with this on there so you can see some varying heights of riders and see how adjustable everything is in here to find that riding position. So if you're looking for the absolute lowest seat with a low step-over, the relaxed body is a great option. You can find a comfortable position because of these ape hangers and the fully adjustable stem. It's the same thing, a 10.4 amp hour battery and, a 500-watt rear hub motor, so you still have that power you need.

It's a great option, and front and rear disc brakes on all these for safe stopping.
