Can tricycles and electric tricycles go in the bike lane? Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. And today we're gonna answer the question, can tricycles and electric tricycles go in the bike lane? I've also got two of our e-trikes here, our Simple Glide 500 watt and our EVRYjourney E-Rickshaw. All right. We get this question fairly frequently, specifically for the Rickshaw, which is can we ride our tricycle in the bike lane? The short answer is yes. Now, I can't speak to every neighborhood, city, county, or state out there. I can only speak to what I know. But so long as your tricycle or e-trike is classified as a bicycle, you are absolutely 100% allowed to ride it in the bike lane. Now, there could be moments where the bike lanes get more narrower than others, and that may upset other riders. But as a tricycle rider, you have all or equal rights to be in that bike lane as any other bicycle or tricycle.
Now, regarding the Rickshaw, actually, this Rickshaw is only slightly longer than a typical tricycle, but the width is nearly identical to the width of other trikes. Now, it has a little fatter tires, which brings it a little bit wider. But in terms of the width, it's just like a tricycle; So yes, it's allowed in the bike lane and how we've specced it in terms of the motor size and the other electronics, it qualifies to be classified as an e-bike. So now, if you had a motorized vehicle that doesn't have pedals and can't be pedaled, technically, it's not going to be allowed in the bike lane. But I see all sorts of electric transportation these days taking up the bike lanes in different parts of California. Now, whether or not that should be the case, I can't speak to, but I can tell you if you are someone who wants to get an e-trike or a tricycle and get out there in the bike lanes, you're definitely allowed to do it and whoever else is in that bike lane should share it with you. So, have any other questions on the topic at all?
