The Lightest Weight EBike There is! Compact, Small & Light Electric Bike Review

The lightest weight e-bike there is.

Hey everyone I'm Dustin I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm going to show you the lightest weight e-bike out there. Okay, so right here, I've got the brand new for 2024, a Simple Step-Thru 20-inch e-bike. This thing is extremely light. It is 55 pounds with the battery, and without the battery, it is only 47 pounds so when you talk about loading weight, On, and off. It is really easy to put into a car. It is also just easy to transport upstairs if you need to and lift it. Once you take the battery off, taking off that eight pounds makes it quite light. Now, let me walk you through the features of this compact, lightweight e-bike so simple step-thru. But now we've got 20-inch tires. So in addition to being the lightest weight e-bike, this also has the lowest step-over height. So the step-over height is located right here. It is only nine inches off the ground. So to step through and mount, you only need to lift your foot off the ground nine inches.

Okay, so just to verify here, See the tape measure, nine inches off the ground. Now, in addition to that is how low the seat is in the lowest position as well. So we can take this all the way down to right here, just about where the rack is and the seat in the lowest position. Let me go ahead and get the tape measure in right here. So the seat in the lowest position is 29 1⁄2 inches. So stepping through and sliding on is very, very easy. This e-bike is gonna accommodate riders about 4'11", all the way up to 6'4", and there are a couple of other reasons why. So you can get the seat up high, So you can see right here, the seat in the highest position gives you an additional eight and a half inches. So the seat in the highest position is 35 and a half inches. So you've got six inches of travel. Now the seat post is a little bit it was up a little bit, so my measurement of the seat post is a little bit off, but you can get the seat six inches higher. The other thing is the adjustability up here on the handlebars with the quick release. You can put them up and down. Now there is a max height here as well. So you wanna clamp to that? The other cool thing though is these ape hangers, these mini ape hanger handlebars. You can actually, there are two bolts up here to adjust. You can bring them in or out of your body.

The taller you are, you probably want to bring them out. And the shorter you are, you want to bring them in. And it just makes for a really, a little bit high on the seat there for me. Let's go ahead and lower it just a touch. Okay. All right. So, makes for a very comfortable ergonomic position, and the bars are right here. so you have complete control over everything while you're riding. Now, this is a very, not very, but this is a powerful e-bike as well. You have a 500-watt rear hub motor, and with how light the bike is, it feels very zippy and very fast. I'll do a demonstration of me taking this up a hill, and you're gonna see how easy and powerful it is to get me up the hill. Now, we've put the battery in the rear, you know, a lot of times you want to try to put up or a lot of companies put the battery here, or they try to shift some of the weight to the middle. In this situation, we've put the battery in the motor back here. Two reasons, we wanted to leave this space open here for the on-off and with the curvature of the frame, because if you see here, the seat is set back from the crank a little bit. Normally the pedals would be right here. With the curvature of the frame, it doesn't leave the kind of space that you would typically want behind there for a battery.

So we were committed to doing the step-through frame because it makes for good on-off or easy on-off. But that's why we have the battery and whatnot located back here. OK, right now we have a display here that tells your miles per hour. You have seven gears as well. We have a pedal, the pedal assist up here. One, two, three, four, five. You have your buttons here. Right now, we have a thumb throttle, but I think for production, we're going to switch to a twist throttle. It'll give you a little more control up here, and a little bit easier to regulate the power. Now, the cool thing is how lightweight and easy to transport this is. So, the full length. Now, we don't have any folding here at the middle of the frame, but from front to back... Go ahead and measure. From front to back, it is 50... nine inches long and the width of the handlebars is 29 inches. Now, here's the cool thing. The pedals fold up so you can push right here, fold the pedals up on both sides. So if you're putting it into a car, it's going to lay nice and flat. And then also at the handlebars up here, you can go ahead and pull this lever handlebars fold down. So now You can talk about easily lifting it up right here and putting it inside your car. So it makes it simple to transpoSuppose. If you have a car rack, it's even better. You don't have to fold it up. But it's very lightweight and easy to take with you. And once you take it out, folds back together super easy. So I'm going to show you a demonstration of how I load it into the back of a hatchback.

Then we're going to do a little demo of me riding up a hill and show you how it performs. Okay, so we're going to show you how we load it into the back of our Subaru? Subaru Crosstrek. Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and fold the pedals up. You push in right here, and then it folds up. We'll just do that on both sides. Okay, then from there, I'm going to fold down my handlebars. Now, I'm not taking the battery off. but it'll make it quite a bit easier if you do. Okay, so now we're just down like that. Probably always easier to lift the back in first. And from there, just go ahead and set it in. And put it in. And you're off and riding. So pretty simple. and again taking off that rear battery will make the loading and unloading a lot easier now if you had an SUV you could easily and let's just try so we can't quite stand it up in here but if you had an SUV you could definitely stand up two of these side by side and then when you're ready to ride see the best place to grab Just put it down like that. Put your kickstand down. Fold this up. Click it back in place. Then from there, fold your pedals. And you're off and riding. Now we will take you on a little ride and demo to you how it performs. All right, take you on a little demo now. So I got my power button up here. I'm going to hold that down. My screen turns on. When it turns on, it's going to be in pedal assist level zero, meaning there's no power. So you can increase or decrease your power pedal assist right here. I'm going to start in level one because with how light this e-bike is, you feel a lot of the power.

So from there, you can use a throttle to start. If you use the throttle, you just want to ease into it. Okay. because again, it's pretty zippy. Or you can do pedal assist, totally up to you. So let's go for a little ride. Okay, you can see how comfortable this is i'm gonna go ahead and put it into two. A little more power. Now I'm going to up the ante to three. And if I want, I can just switch to pedal-assist or sorry, throttle. Let's do this. We got a school bus here we gotta stop for. So I'm 220 pounds and this provides more than enough power. All right. Now, we're going to take on this hill here, and I'm going to show you how easily I can get up it. Okay. Ready? Got to get into level five. There we go. And again, I'm 220 pounds, so a lot of pine cones right here. and these are only 20-inch tires so you know, with a 26-inch this hill would probably be a little bit easier. And I'm actually in seventh gear right now, too. So if I wanted to make it even easier, I could put into first or second. All right. Up the hill, no problem. All right, now we've got Textro disc brakes too, so we're gonna go down the hill and this braking power is really good. Just watch out for the pine cones. I'm gonna see how fast I can get going with just the throttle, so let's see. All right, I hit 17 miles an hour with just the throttle. Again, I'm 220 pounds. So if you're between 160 to 180, you're going to hit that 20-mile-an-hour mark. Now I'm going to put it in level five and I'm going to go straight away pedal assist and we'll see how fast I can get going with pedal assist.

All right, here we go. So funny. All right, 20 miles an hour in pedal assist for me. Again, lighter weight, you'll get up there over 20 miles an hour. All right, let's head back to the office and we'll recap. All right, so that is the 20-inch simple step through the lightest weight e-bike out there.
